What is CEREC?

It is a revolutionary, state-of-the-art technology that allows beautiful, strong crowns, inlays, onlays or veneers to be created in the office in “one visit.” This not only saves you time, but also the need for repeatedly getting “numbed;” there are no gooey impressions or temporaries.

One of the biggest advantages of CEREC is its convenience. If you need a crown, inlay, or onlay, you can get your teeth restored during a single trip to Fredal Family Dentistry. Traditionally, these procedures require two trips to the dentist.

During the first, the dentist cleans the tooth, makes a mold, and places a temporary restoration onto the tooth. In a couple of weeks, after the permanent restoration is ready, you need to return to the office so that the dentist can remove the temporary fix and place the permanent one.

The CEREC process lets you receive your permanent restoration in one visit, so you do not have to live for weeks with a temporary fix and schedule another appointment. Another benefit of CEREC is that it uses a single block of solid ceramic materials instead of pressed ceramic and metal. CEREC restorations are able to withstand moderate chewing so yours will last for years.

The lifespan of a CEREC restoration is longer than similar work with traditional methods. In addition, the color of CEREC ceramic is closer to the color of your natural teeth, which will make your restoration virtually unnoticeable.

What Is Invisalign
Invisalign® straightens your teeth using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. They gradually and gently shift your teeth into place. There are no metal brackets to attach and
no wires to tighten.
You just pop in a new set of aligners approximately
every two weeks, until your treatment is complete.
You’ll achieve a great smile with little interference
to your daily life.

COMFORT & CONVENIENCE
Making the decision to straighten your teeth is much easier when you know that Invisalign® treatment lets you live your life the way you want to. With Invisalign aligners, you don't need to worry about the gum and mouth irritation other teeth-straightening methods can cause. Invisalign aligner trays are not only smooth and comfortable to wear, but they're also removable.

That means you can continue doing all the things you normally would, from brushing and flossing, to eating whatever you like. With other devices, brushing and flossing properly can often take up to 30 minutes!
Special occasion coming up? No problem — just take your aligners out for that time and pop them back in when you're ready. Of course, even when you're wearing them, most people won't even know you're going through treatment, because they are virtually invisible!

The Digital X-Ray Difference
Digital x-ray technology gives us the ability to provide you with safer diagnostic imaging procedures. Digital x-rays reduce patient exposure to radiation by up to 90% compared with traditional x-ray techniques. The image is printed instantaneously on a computer monitor, without the need to wait for film to develop. Plus, our 3D imaging technology used in combination with digital x-rays can give you and your dentist a very clear and accurate view of your teeth and gums, helping you understand any problems and what may need to be done to correct them.

Digital x-rays are also more convenient: they can be sent to your insurance provider electronically, cutting down delays between diagnosis and treatment. We also have the ability to send copies to other dental specialist for review.

What Is Intraoral Photography
Intraoral cameras are small, pen-shaped devices that will get a closer look at your oral health. These tiny cameras capture digital images of your teeth and gums, gives a better view of your mouth, with angles that are hard to see with the naked eye. We can instantly see the images from the intraoral camera on a screen in the treatment room, which allows us to discuss the images immediately. We can also use the images to help you understand why we recommend certain treatments.

Using intraoral photography, we can almost instantly detect a variety of oral health issues and nonissues, including the following:
Tooth decay and cavities
Spots of gingivitis
Gum disease
Enamel texture and cracks
Tooth and gum abnormalities
Healthy areas of the mouth

Unlike digital dental X-rays, intraoral photography is not necessary for all patients and it is not needed at every check-up. If we decide to take photos of your mouth, Dr. Fredal, Dr. Mann or a dental hygienist will be happy to explain why intraoral photography is the right choice for your oral health. Ask as many questions as you like!
